It’s that time of the year again for nominations of Officers and Trustees. It’s been a long four years, especially this one! I can’t really tell how or why I decided to become an officer. No one in my family are PER’s or past Trustees. It’s true that I have been going up there since I was a kid, third generation. I joined at the age of 21 with a few of my high school friends, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who can make that claim. When I first became an officer, I knew hardly anything about the Elks. At that time, it was as is for many members, a great social outlet. My appreciation of being an Elk didn’t really come from my nine year of membership or a lifetime of memories, but truly developed after becoming an officer. It’s a roller-coaster ride, but that ride forces you to learn more and more every day. As we enter into the month of February, please be aware that we nominate individuals for officer and trustee positions during the first meeting in the month (February 12th) and then vote to elect these positions during the second meeting of the month (February 19th).
